Apple Inc. has started assembling iPhones in India in its recently setup plant in IT hub Bengaluru.
The first phone assembled are its lowest category SE models, and its been assembled by Taiwanese contractors. Apple Inc. had recently announced its plan of setting up a assemble plant in India to focus on booming Indian smartphone market. This had come after Indian PM Modi's Make In India initiative.

But it is not easy for apple to simply takeover Chinese dominated Indian smartphone market which has more than 50% of market share. Apple might have to consider reducing the price of the handsets, where Indians can easily buy a Chinese smartphone at less than half of an iPhones price.
